Elizabeth walks us through her real-life experience of a snow day gone wild—juggling virtual meetings, a big presentation, and two energetic little ones—all while maintaining a calm, focused mindset. She reveals the power of her morning routine, the affirmations that set her tone for the day, and the simple yet profound mantras that anchor her in moments of stress.
Danielle Wilkie:
Elizabeth, yesterday sounded like it could have been a total whirlwind. Can you walk us through what your day looked like?
Elizabeth Convery:
Absolutely. It was one of those days that had the potential to spiral into chaos. Our kids had a snow day, my husband had to head into the office, and I was juggling a series of virtual meetings that couldn’t be moved—all while preparing for a presentation this morning. And, of course, my 5-year-old and 2-year-old were practically ready to throw a party!
Danielle Wilkie:
That sounds intense. How did you manage to keep your cool amid all that?
Elizabeth Convery:
I rely heavily on the power of the mind and the morning routine. I’ve talked a lot in coaching about setting yourself up for success at the start of the day. Yesterday, I really put my theories to the test. Knowing what was ahead, I doubled down on my routine by adding a quick pep talk to my affirmations and setting a specific mantra for the day.
Danielle Wilkie:
What was that mantra, if you don’t mind sharing?
Elizabeth Convery:
Not at all. I told myself:
• “I will impart radical acceptance today because I can’t change my situation.”
• “I will have patience and speak my truth to keep my family harmony intact.”
• “I will practice extreme grace for myself and my family.”
I even dressed with intention—a crisp white blouse and a cashmere sweater wrap helped me feel elevated, even if I was still rocking leggings and comfy socks.
Danielle Wilkie:
And did it work?
Elizabeth Convery:
You bet it did. When you show up for yourself first, it sets the tone for the entire day. Even when things went off track, I was able to maintain my mindset and steer back to a positive space. The mind is incredibly powerful—train it to work for you.
Danielle Wilkie:
Such a powerful reminder, Elizabeth. And I love that you ended the day with a practical tip—even on a snow day, don’t forget the snacks!
Elizabeth Convery:
Exactly! Sometimes, the simplest things keep us going.
